Pre-Hospital Registered Nurse, St. Lukes Emergency Transport Services Department (Full Time)

The PHRN will be work closely with the Critical Care Nurse Manager to assure coordinated efforts and efficient operation for critical care transport unit or SCTU. PHRN is also responsible for accurate and timely report filing along with developing treatment and operations protocols to meet New Jersey Department of Health regulations.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/ Entity as well as the proper release of information.
Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.
Demonstrates/models the Network's Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external).
Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety.

Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.
Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated.
Performs all necessary clerical duties for SLETS.
Coordinates operations of emergency and non-emergency transport services.
Coordinates incoming, outgoing and internal communications.
Demonstrates ability to use various types of computer software programs.
Responsible for own professional and personal growth through participation in in-services and/or continuing education programs.
Demonstrates/models the hospital's core values and customer service behaviors in interactions with all customers (internal and external).
Complies with hospital and departmental policies regarding safety, attendance and dress code.
Maintains confidentiality of all material handled within the hospital as well as the proper release of information.
Responding to emergency and non-emergency calls calmly, efficiently and promptly;
Administering basic and advanced life support to patients at the scene, en route to the hospital and in a pre-hospital setting in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations and standards; Assessing the nature and extent of injury or illness to establish and prioritize medical procedures to be followed;
Extricating victims of accidents, sudden illness or entrapment using proper rescue and medical techniques;
Treating patients at the scene, en route to the hospital, and in a pre-hospital setting in accordance with federal, state, local, laws, regulations and standards and in accordance with St. Luke's University Health Network and St. Luke's Emergency & Transport Services policies rules, and guidelines;
Effectively communicating with professional medical personnel and treatment facilities to obtain instructions regarding further treatment and/ or to arrange reception of patients to the appropriate center;
Maintaining order at scenes, including crowd disbursement and restraint of family and friends; Completing patient care forms, insurance forms, evaluation forms, and all other forms in a competent and timely fashion.
Adhere to and follow all policies and procedures concerning safety and contamination by blood borne pathogens; and Educate and/ train squad personnel, EMS trainees and the public
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Sitting 8 hours per day; 3 hours at a time. Stand up to 1 hour per day; 30 minutes at a time. Walk up to 2 hours per day; 20 minutes at a time. Continuously fingering and handling for data entry, typing, etc. and occasional twisting and turning. Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs. Occasionally carry up to 15 lbs. Frequently stoops, bends, or reaches above shoulder level to retrieve files. Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch. Must be able to hear as it relates to normal conversation. Must be able to see as it relates to general, near, far, color, peripheral vision and vision monotony.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
High School Graduate. Pennsylvania and/or New Jersey Nursing license(s) PHRN shall be a registered nurse with at least one year of critical care experience and who has demonstrated by education or experience the ability to manage health care organizations. Pa. Pre-hospital Registered Nurse (PHRN) and or New Jersey EMT certification is preferred.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Documented completion of competencies for ALS equipment, including, but not limited to:
Cardiac monitor/defibrillator;
External pacemaker;
IV pump;
Ventilator;
Intra-aortic balloon pump;
Specialized respirators;
Incubators.
BCLS ACLS PALS Haz-mat operations level Experience in computer operations. Previous experience in health care/ambulance billing; radio communication skills; office skills including typing, filing, bookkeeping. Excellent organizational skills; pleasant telephone manner. Ability to perform job with a minimum of direct supervision.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
